The overall aim of Saughton Park is to re-connect the public and local communities with this park and to reflect upon the sites historical and contemporary context. The project is to be seen as a social sculpture that aims to unite the parks existing users and its surrounding diverse communities and also to attract a wider and international audience, as it famously did during the Scottish National Exhibition in 1908. It is hoped that by creating a series of events within the grounds and activating the park in this context, public interest in the park will be revived and fresh questions about its current and future role in Edinburgh will be raised.
